History

Totally forgot about this until rethinking what I was wanting to say, research and all that for my proposal. https://www.nzta.govt.nz/safety/our-advertising/history-of-road-safety-advertising/ very helpful link for this.

Pretty much has all the new zealand road ads from the past few years, including print ones that i cant remember seeing, but i wasn't really the target audience back then.

differences

The complete tonal shift between the top add (which came out around 10 years ago) and the bottom (5 years ago) is crazy. Where one uses a hard-hitting kind of scary message, the other one is our humour.

design

Just looking at different textures, instead of the usual photo or vector look

Just some trials posters to see how i could use a stat to show something scary to people so they would want to change how they think and do drive. Bit shit right now though.

information visualisation

Not my favourite design ever but I like the interactivity of the infographics, could be pushed on different platforms as well.

Just some research into adverts. Watched 38 new zealand road safety ads from the last 2 decades just to see if theirs been any kinds of ups and downs in representation of certain groups, how graphic they are etc.

One of the biggest things I found interesting was the change from really graphic has-hitting ads to more people orientated. Looking into it, these changes came out around the same as this Safer Journeys plan was released by the government. It effects law changes, roading companies, add campaigns and all that.
